About EBC

Our History

The Evergreen Bible Way Church was originally established in 1962, in a cow pasture located in Louisa, Virginia. Our founder, the late Elder Joseph W. Grooms used an old tattered tent as an edifice, and wood slabs from pine trees as pews. Nevertheless, Elder Joseph W. Grooms looked beyond his desolate surroundings, and envisioned a church that would have life changing effects on the community. In 1964, Elder Joseph W. Grooms, along with his small group of members moved from the tent into a one room building with a leaking roof, uneven cement floor, and a pot belly wood stove which provided heat. Elder Joseph W. Grooms and his members never gave up hope. They stood firm on the promises of God that he would provide them with a place to worship. God honored his word and June, 1973, the Evergreen Bible Way Church was constructed and later remodeled in the early nineties. Evergreen Bible Way Church was dedicated by the late Presiding Apostle Smallwood E. Williams. As a result of the ministry of Elder Joseph W. Grooms, 7 churches were established throughout the region and out of state by previous Ministers of the Evergreen Bible Way Church.

" For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." 2 Corinthians 5:1

Elder Grooms and First Lady Grooms fought a good fight, finished their courses, and kept the faith to the end!!!

And The Legacy Lives On

Following the death of our beloved founder, Elder Joseph W. Grooms in 1987, the mantle was passed to our present Pastor, Bishop Steven A. Mason (Elder Joseph W. Grooms' nephew). Under the pastorate of Bishop Steven Mason, the church has flourished and grown. Evergreen Bible Way offers more than fifteen ministries to serve its members and the local population. Through his ministry and the help of God, EBC has obtained additional property and hundreds of souls have been blessed and many lives have been changed. God has blessed Evergreen Bible Way Church to minister to the spiritual, social, and economic needs of its members, and the surrounding communities.

Bishop Steven A. Mason is definitely a visionary. He projects the building of a Day Care Center, an Educational facility, and the expansion of the current Sanctuary. Bishop Steven A. Mason's motto is 'It's All About Jesus "
